What is IPL skin rejuvenation?
IPL is the skin rejuvenation treatment you’ve been waiting for! Aging skin is a natural occurrence. Sun exposure and UV rays can damage collagen and elastic fibers, resulting in skin color changes, fine wrinkles and facial veins. IPL can help reverse the signs of aging and reduce the effects of other chronic skin conditions.*
Although skin rejuvenation techniques have been around for years, IPL represents a dramatic new advance in the science of improving damaged skin. Unlike with other procedures, there are virtually no side effects or downtime after the IPL procedure. Intense pulsed light is a true non-invasive photo skin rejuvenation technique, which diminishes hyperpigmentation, fine lines, age spots, spider veins, and signs of rosacea.*
How does IPL work?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) stimulates new collagen production. Usually 4 treatments are needed at intervals of approximately 3 weeks, and re-treatments may be required as the need arises. An initial consultation is always necessary, since not all skin colors, nor skin conditions, can be treated.
IPL can be used to diminish skin surface imperfections such as large pore size, fine wrinkles, and rough skin texture.*
Am I a candidate for this treatment?
Most people, including children, may be treated. However, we will determine if your condition is suitable for the procedure. This requires a consultation visit to our office in Woburn, Massachusetts.
What is a treatment like?
Treatment involves a pulsed light, similar to the flash of a camera. You may feel a slight pinch or snap of a rubber band, but most patients describe the procedure as comfortable. No local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary.
How many treatments are required?
Freckles, age spots, and sun spots often require only 1 treatment.* Other blemishes may take 1-3 treatments. Each session generally lasts 15-20 minutes.
Are there restrictions on my activity after treatment?
You can return to work the same day and resume all regular activities. However, you should limit your exposure to the sun, and sun block is highly recommended.
